Caleb “Coach” Brown
Candidate for North Carolina State House, District 120
I’m Caleb. I am a dedicated educator, coach, and public servant committed to strengthening North Carolina families and communities. I am originally from South Carolina where my parents instilled in me the values of hard-work, dedication, and empathy. When I was seventeen years old my mother passed away after a 3 year long battle with cancer. As I stepped back into the classroom for my senior year, I had an army of teachers who looked out for me and encouraged me to turn my mother’s battle into something positive for our community. With support from my teachers, principal, and local community I started a fundraiser that raised $22,538 for Camp Kemo a summer camp for pediatric cancer patients and their siblings. After seeing the outpouring of support from my school I knew I wanted to become a teacher.
For the last seven years I have had the honor of calling Highlands NC home. I am 33 years old and live with my wife, daughter, and two dogs. I’ve had the privilege of teaching high school Social Studies and working with the next generation of leaders both in the classroom and on the soccer field as a varsity boys and girls coach. As a teacher in North Carolina I know firsthand the stresses our families face.
Beyond the classroom, I serve as a 2nd Lieutenant in the North Carolina Army National Guard.
My campaign is focused on the issues that matter most to everyday working North Carolinians: household finances, stability, access to healthcare, and fully funding our schools. We must ensure every child has access to a quality education. I am ready to bring practical solutions, common-sense policies, and a strong voice for Western North Carolina families to the State House.
